No. The 5m probe is electrically tuned for use only with a 5m Proximitor sensor. Using other lengths will cause measurement errors.
Why is the ceramic cap important?
The ceramic tip resists wear and electrical erosion much better than metal tips. This gives longer life in harsh environments.
From experience, how critical is the target material?
Very critical. The system’s stated accuracy and scale factor are only guaranteed with an AISI 4140 steel target. Other materials will change the output.
How do I check if a used probe is still good?
Measure the DC resistance between the center pin and outer shield. A value far outside the 8.73 ± 0.70 ohm range suggests internal damage.
Is the pressure seal tested on every unit?
Standard units are rated but not 100% tested. For critical high-pressure applications, contact Bently Nevada’s custom department for specific testing.
