Frequently Asked Questions
- Why choose an 8mm probe over a 5mm one?
- The 8mm design has a thicker tip and stronger case. It is much more resistant to bumps and abuse in harsh plants.
- Does this model come with the oil-blocking cable?
- Not by default. You must specify the FluidLoc cable option at the time of ordering to get that feature.
- What do the numbers in the part number mean?
- Each set of numbers is an option code. For example, “08” means 0.8″ case length, and “05” means 0.5m cable. This lets you customize your order.
- Can I replace a probe without recalibrating the whole system?
- Yes. The tight ±5% interchangeability tolerance often allows a direct swap. For critical applications, a verification check is still recommended.
- We have had cables vibrate loose. Is this a problem here?
- The patented CableLoc design specifically solves this. It mechanically locks the cable to withstand high vibration and 75 lbs of pull force.
- Is it suitable for high-temperature applications like steam turbines?
- The standard probe works up to 177°C (350°F). For hotter areas near steam lines, you need the Extended Temperature Range (ETR) version.
