Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install the IS220PAICH1B:
-
Mount the terminal board (IS200TBAIH1C, TAIH1A, or TAIH2A)
-
Plug the PAIC pack directly into the terminal board connector
-
Connect two Ethernet cables (or one for simplex)
-
Apply 24 or 28 VDC via the 3-pin power connector
-
Soft-start circuit handles inrush current automatically
Tip: The pack negotiates Ethernet connection on either port.
Wire size: Use at least 22 AWG for terminal board connections.
Auto-Reconfiguration – How It Works
What it does
Lets you replace a pack without manual setup.
Step by step
-
Controller detects a new booting pack
-
Auto-reconfiguration must be enabled
-
Controller downloads config file to the pack
-
Bootload, baseload, firmware, and parameters update
-
Pack gets the latest matching config
Result
The new pack works right away. No extra work needed.
Debugging & Maintenance
LED indicators
Show power, Ethernet link, and I/O status.
Alarm 66-67
Individual output current too high relative to total current.
Alarm 82-83

FAQ – Professional Questions
What is the minimum DC voltage for IS220PAICH1B to work properly
22.5 VDC is the minimum. Nominal is 24 or 28 VDC.
Can I use this pack with a terminal board other than IS200 series
No. Only use IS200TBAIH1C, IS200TAIH1A, or IS200TAIH2A.
What happens if auto-reconfiguration is disabled
You must manually configure each new pack. We recommend keeping it enabled.
How does the suicide relay work in a TMR system
It opens to remove a failed output. The other two packs then work correctly without interference.
Is this pack compliant for use in European hazardous areas
Yes. It meets ATEX Zone 2, Group IIC standards.
Experience-Based FAQ
We see alarm 82-83 after a power surge. What should we do
Replace the pack. The suicide relay hardware likely failed. Do not try to repair it onsite.
Can we mix IS220PAICH1B with older PAICH1 packs in one system
Yes, but each pack must match its own terminal board. The controller handles them separately.
How do we know if auto-reconfiguration is active
Check the controller settings in ControlST. Look for the auto-reconfig enable flag.
The pack works but one input reads wrong. What is wrong
Check the terminal board resistor for current loops. For voltage inputs, check scaling settings.
Do we need to power down the rack to replace a pack
No. The soft-start circuit allows hot swapping. But follow your site safety rules.
Selection Guide – How to Choose the Right Analog I/O Pack
Choose IS220PAICH1B if
-
You need 10 analog inputs and 2 outputs
-
Your inputs include 5 V, 10 V, 0-20 mA, or ±1 mA
-
You use GE Mark VIe series
-
You want ATEX Zone 2 certification
-
Auto-reconfiguration is important to you
Choose a different pack if
-
You need more than 10 inputs
-
You need thermocouple or RTD inputs
-
Your system uses Mark V (not VIe)
