Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does “non-commoned” mean for wiring?
Each input channel is separate. You must connect both wires for every sensor or switch.
Can I mix AC and DC signals on one module?
No. The entire Triconex 3501E module must be set for either AC or DC operation.
Why is the turn-off voltage so much lower than turn-on?
This is called hysteresis. It prevents rapid on/off chattering if the signal voltage is near the threshold.
How are the diagnostic LEDs useful?
They let you see which field devices are active at a glance. This speeds up troubleshooting significantly.
Any installation tip for long cable runs?
Use twisted pair cables. This reduces electrical noise that can cause false readings on sensitive inputs.
