- Use this value to check cable health during maintenance.
- Only pair with 5 meter Proximitor Sensor. Other lengths will not work correctly.
Temperature & Environmental Limits
- Operating and storage temperature: -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F).
- Do not expose probe below -34°C (-30°F) – this may damage the pressure seal.
- Pressure sealing: Viton O-ring seals differential pressure.
- Probes are not pressure tested before shipment. Contact us for custom testing.
Mechanical Installation – Torque & Bending
- Connector torque: Finger tight only. Maximum 0.565 N•m (5 in•lb).
- Minimum bend radius for cable: 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) – with or without armor.
- Exceeding bend radius may damage internal conductors.
Hazardous Area Approvals – Safety First
- Intrinsically safe (ia) with zener barriers or galvanic isolators per drawing 141092:
- Class I, Zone 0: AEx/Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga
- Class I, Groups A,B,C,D; Class II, Groups E,F,G; Class III
- T5 @ Ta = -55°C to +40°C | T4 @ Ta = -55°C to +80°C
- Nonincendive (nA/ec) per drawing 140979:
- Class I, Zone 2: AEx/Ex nA IIC T4/T5 Gc
- Class I, Division 2, Groups A,B,C,D
- T5 @ Ta = -55°C to +40°C | T4 @ Ta = -55°C to +80°C
Installation Guide
- Clean mounting hole and probe tip before installation.
- Screw probe into mounting hole using 3/8-24 UNF threads.
- Tighten connector finger tight only. Do not use tools.
- Connect to 5 meter Proximitor Sensor – this is mandatory.
- Keep cable bend radius larger than 25.4 mm (1 inch).
- For hazardous areas, follow approved barrier drawings (141092 or 140979).
Debug & Maintenance
- Measure DC resistance: should read 7.2 ± 0.8 ohms for 5m cable.
- Check connector for corrosion or loose fit.
- Inspect cable for kinks or cuts – replace if damaged.
- Use Bently Nevada diagnostic tools to verify gap voltage.
Compatibility
- Only works with 5 meter Proximitor Sensor. Do not use with 1m or 9m sensors.
- Compatible with all Bently Nevada 3300 XL monitoring systems.
- Use with approved zener barriers or galvanic isolators for hazardous areas.
- Can integrate with Modicon Quantum PLCs via signal converters.
Certifications & Compliance
- Intrinsically safe (ia) for Zone 0 and Division 1 hazardous areas.
- Nonincendive (nA/ec) for Zone 2 and Division 2.
- Temperature class T4 (80°C) and T5 (40°C).
- Made in USA. Meets Bently Nevada quality standards.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Question: Why must I use a 5 meter Proximitor Sensor with this probe?
Answer: The probe and sensor are calibrated as a pair. Mismatched lengths cause errors.
- Question: What is reverse mount? How is it different?
Answer: The cable exits from the back. This fits shallow mounting holes.
- Question: Can I use this probe in Zone 0 hazardous areas?
Answer: Yes with intrinsic safety barriers per drawing 141092.
- Question: What happens if I tighten the connector past 0.565 N•m?
Answer: You may break the ClickLoc connector. Finger tight is enough.
- Question: Is the probe pressure tested before shipping?
Answer: No. Contact us if your application requires a pressure seal test.
Experience-based Q&A (Field Notes)
- Question: My reading is unstable. What should I check first?
Answer: Verify you use a 5 meter Proximitor Sensor. Wrong sensor gives bad data.
- Question: The cable is too long. Can I cut and splice it?
Answer: No. Cutting changes resistance and calibration. Order correct length.
- Question: We see noise at 60 Hz. How to fix?
Answer: Route cable away from power lines. Use shielded cable and proper grounding.
- Question: Does cold temperature really damage the pressure seal?
Answer: Yes. Below -34°C the Viton O-ring may crack. Keep within limits.
