Description
Product Overview
Woodward 5466-318 is a MicroNet TMR Kernel PS Module. It takes 24 Vdc input and gives a steady 5 Vdc output at 10 Amps. This module powers all critical parts inside the kernel section. It creates a precharge voltage for safe startup sequences. The design stops power surges and makes the system more reliable. Status: In Stock. Made in USA.
Key Features at a Glance
- Redundant Design: Each kernel has its own power supply.
- Fault Tolerant: One failure does not stop the whole system.
- High Output: 10 Amps at 5 Vdc for critical loads.
- LED Health Indicator: Shows power supply status at a glance.
- Precharge Voltage: Protects components during power-up.
- Precise Regulation: 5 Vdc ±5% output stability.

Installation Guide
- Turn off all system power before installation.
- Install this module in the first slot from the left of the sub-chassis.
- Install the Kernel CPU module in the next slot to the right.
- Connect 24 Vdc input from main MicroNet power supplies.
- Check the LED turns on after power-up.
- Verify 5 Vdc output with a multimeter.
Debugging & Maintenance
- Check the LED light. On means normal. Off means no power or failure.
- Measure 24 Vdc at the input terminals first.
- If input is good but no output, replace the module.
- Keep the module free from dust and moisture.
- Test output voltage every 6 months for critical systems.
- Always keep a spare 5466-318 for fast replacement.
Redundancy & Fault Tolerance
- Each kernel section has its own power supply module.
- If one power supply fails, other kernels keep running.
- The system stays functional during a single failure.
- This design is perfect for safety-critical applications.
- Examples: nuclear plants, aerospace, power generation.
Compatibility Information
- Works with Woodward MicroNet TMR control systems.
- Must pair with Kernel CPU module (installed next slot).
- Receives input from MicroNet main power supplies.
- For Modicon Quantum systems, see Modicon Quantum series.
Typical Application Scenarios
- Nuclear power plant control systems.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: Why does the 5466-318 need to be in the first slot?
Woodward designed it that way. The CPU module needs power from this unit first.
Q2: Can I use two 5466-318 modules in one chassis?
No. Each kernel sub-chassis needs only one power supply. Use one per kernel.
Q3: What happens if the LED is off but input voltage is good?
The module is faulty. Replace it immediately. Contact us for a replacement unit.
Q4: Is this module hot-swappable?
No. Turn off system power before removing or installing the 5466-318.
Q5: What is precharge voltage and why do I need it?
It slowly powers up components. This stops sudden power surges that can damage parts.
Q6: Do you test used 5466-318 modules before shipping?
Yes. We test every unit. We check input, output, LED, and precharge function.
Q7: Can I get a discount for buying multiple units?
Yes. Contact us for volume pricing on 2 or more 5466-318 modules.
Q8: How do you ship internationally?
We use FedEx, UPS, and DHL. All shipments have tracking and insurance.
Selection Guide
- Choose 5466-318 if:
You need a power supply for Woodward MicroNet TMR kernel section.
Your system requires 5 Vdc at up to 10 Amps.
You want fault tolerance and redundant power design. - Do not choose this if:
Your system is not Woodward MicroNet TMR.
You need higher than 10 Amps output current.
You require 24 Vdc output (this gives 5 Vdc only). - Better alternatives:
For main system power, check Woodward 5466-317.
For Modicon Quantum systems, use Schneider power supplies.
