Description
Product Overview
The Woodward 8440-1935 belongs to the easYgen-3000 series. You may also know it as easYgen-3500-1-P1. This unit comes in a sheet metal chassis. Install it inside a cabinet for protection. Do not connect wires to the protective earth terminal on the controller. Use the bottom connector for protective earth if needed.
This controller includes an integrated generator group breaker control. Always short-circuit the current transformer before disconnecting the device. Failure to do so may cause severe injury or death.
Key Feature – Power Factor Explained
Power factor is the ratio of real power to apparent power. Three circuit types work with power factor:
Capacitive circuit
Purely resistive circuit
Inductive circuit
A resistive circuit has voltage and current waveforms in step. Its power factor is 1.00. We call this “unity.”

Professional FAQ
Q1: What does accuracy class 0.5 mean?
A: The measurement error stays within 0.5% of the full scale value.
Q2: Why must I short-circuit the current transformer?
A: An open CT creates dangerous high voltage. This voltage can kill or cause severe burns.
Q3: Experience-based tip – What is the most common installation mistake?
A: People connect wires to the protective earth terminal on the controller. Use the bottom connector instead. This mistake happens often.
Q4: Experience-based tip – How do I check if my CT is shorted safely?
A: Use a shorting block or shorting bar. Verify with a multimeter before touching any wires.
Q5: Purchasing guide – New surplus or reconditioned?
A: New surplus suits critical sites like hospitals. Reconditioned works for backup units or training.
Selection Guide
Need high current measurement up to 32,000A? This model fits.
Need 0.5% accuracy? Choose this unit.
Installing inside a cabinet? This sheet metal chassis works well.
Using Modicon Quantum PLC? This unit connects easily.
Need a 12-month warranty? We provide it on all units.
Quick tip: For outdoor cabinets, add a heater to prevent condensation. The controller itself has no built-in anti-condensation feature.
