Description
Product Introduction
The Tricon RXM 4210 is a remote extender module. It lets you place I/O modules far from the main chassis. Use it to extend the Tricon I/O bus over several kilometers. This module also provides ground loop isolation. It works in sets of three identical units. One primary RXM set supports three remote locations. Each remote location needs its own RXM set in a remote chassis.
How It Works – Simple View
Each remote site needs six fiber-optic cables.
Three channels per remote site. Each channel uses two cables.
One cable sends data from primary to remote.
The other cable sends data from remote back to primary.
Total cables for three remote sites: 18 cables.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I use this module with regular copper cables?
A: No. The RXM 4210 works only with single-mode fiber-optic cables.
Q: How many RXM modules do I need for one remote site?
A: Three modules at the primary site and three modules at the remote site. Total six modules for one remote location.
Q: What happens if one fiber cable breaks?
A: That channel stops working. The other two channels may still work. Check the FAIL LED for help.
Q: Can I extend beyond 12 kilometers?
A: No. 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) is the maximum distance per link.
Q: Does this module work with other Tricon I/O types?
A: Yes. It works with all standard Tricon I/O modules that use the Tricon I/O bus.
Experienced user tip: Always power off both chassis before connecting or disconnecting fiber cables. The ST connectors are durable but dirt on the fiber tip causes data errors. Clean each tip with a proper fiber cleaner before plugging in.
Buying Guide – Choose the Right Remote Extender
Need only one remote site? One RXM set is enough (three primary + three remote).
